The police caught a serial thief in Pécs in 1988. He had stolen tape-recorders and various personal items from cars left open. In addition, he was also a shoplifter. All items were stored in his mother’s flat. He sold almost nothing of the things stolen. Therefore, a logical question arises: what was the perpetrator’s reason and his goal with these crimes? The study presents the investigation and the psychological examination of the suspect.
