Abstract

Ferenc Raffay, a Hungarian professor of private law, who died young, wrote two textbooks: one on Hungarian law and another one Austrian law in the Kingdom of Hungary. This study is related to the latter. It summarizes the impact of the ABGB on Hungarian judicial practice and codification after the abrogation of the Austrian code in 1861. The paper also outlines the teaching of Austrian private law at Hungarian law schools until 1945.
